September 3, 2003 AD Around 5:45 PM a large rainbow appeared over Florida State Prison, then around 6 PM a great storm arose and the sky turned black. I remarked to Paul's lawyer that this is like when Jesus was crucified, the sky turning black. While I was in the observation room, the lights flickered two or three times; this happened right before Paul spoke his 'last words'. I sat wondering if I would be sitting in the dark and started thinking whether the prison had back up generators; and if so, would they go ahead with the execution.
From reports outside, both from media and Paul's friends, some long bolts of lightning happened around 6 PM, so close that the smell from the lightning bolts was obvious. Another bolt appeared to hit close to the prison itself. Then a few minutes after 6, the storm ended as suddenly as it started and then began a gentle rain. I do not think this was a coincidence being this happened the same time Paul was put to death. DS
Also, a few minutes before Paul Hill was executed (a few minutes after 6 PM) the sky turned black and a storm suddenly came up. Immediate loud thunder, lightning, and pouring rain soaked the area around the prison. The sudden storm left just as quickly as it came. Bright sunlight shone both before and after this storm, which only lasted a few minutes during Paul's execution.
