It is written:
When a man's way please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. (Proverbs 16:7)
Has America been doing that which pleases God? The answer is a resounding "NO!"
Think of it, for the past thirty years America has told God, "Get out of my face!" -- fighting tooth and nail to take prayer and all Bible reading out of school; making it illegal to display nativity scenes at Christmas on public property as well as prohibiting public school students from singing "silent Night" or other sacred carols.
As Israel of old "...declare their sin as Sodom, they hid it not..." (Isaiah 3:9), America promotes homosexuality, penalizing the Boy Scouts, a wholesome group, for refusing to allow Sodomites as Scout Leaders, while she vehemently pushes for "same sex marriages".
Pornography, gambling, blasphemy, fornication, all sanctioned by the U.S. government, are just a few of her many transgressions. Television, movies, music, art, have become saturated with smut as they ridicule and belittle all that is connected with Christian virtues and Biblical teachings.
As if these sins were not enough, America adds sin unto sin by wantonly slaughtering the preborn children under the guise of "women's rights". Abortion -- what America deems a cherished right, what God decrees as a heinous sin. Will God bless such a sin soaked nation?
The answer is found in Bible:
Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34
Any nation that thinks that she can despise God's law and still be blessed with peace and
prosperity is gravely deceived.
Thank the Lord for Jerry Falwell, the only national religious leader who had the guts to tell it like it is saying:
God continues to lift the curtain and all the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve...The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked...
I really believe that the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle...all of them who have tried to secularize America -- I point the finger in their face an say, "You helped this happen". (see Psalms 34:21)
(It was reported that Rev. Falwell retracted the above quoted statement. Nevertheless, the Bible clearly states that man, whether as individuals or as nations, will reap what he sows -- Galatians 6:7-8.)
Things look dark for our nation because she is dismissing such holy admonitions as nothing but "hate speech".
Instead she continues to look at the mote in the hijackers' eye yet fails to see the beam in her own.
Unquestionably, it was a tragedy that over 6,000 people were killed in the WTC on September 11th, but much more of a tragedy, or should I say crime, that 6,000 babies are killed every day in abortion clinics throughout our land.
Will the Just, Holy, Almighty God, who heard the voice of righteous Abel's blood cry from the ground (Genesis 4:10) ignore the hideous atrocity of abortion?
I trow not!!!
Think of it, just think of it, nineteen, only nineteen barbarians gave the great United States of America such a blow that it has practically brought her down to her knees. Is this not the God of the Universe proclaiming to this spiritual Babylon that it is high time to "awake to righteousness, and sin not..." (1 Corinthians 15:34)?
So where was I when the towers fell down? Doing sidewalk counseling in front of one of America's bloodiest abortion clinics, Eastern Women's Center. It is somewhat ironic while Americans were choosing to kill their babies, hijackers were choosing to kill Americans.
Many Americans will quickly agree that terrorism is evil and then turn around and say abortion is good. Why?
They are not looking to God to tell them right from wrong. They have their own standard, not knowing or caring to know that the Lord said:
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9)
We can know God's definition of good and evil by, and only by his Holy Word, the Bible --
the King James Version of the Bible.
If America does not humbly repent of her many gross iniquities with a broken and contrite heart, and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation, I'm afraid things will get worse, far worse, for her.
It is the responsibility of all God fearing Americans to tell their fellow countrymen that the only solution to our problem is complete faith and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. If not, September 11th, 2001 may very well mark the beginning of her end.
If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (II Chronicles 7:14)
Amen

Brenda received numerous responses to the above letter from those who could not conceive of God in the context of Righteous Judge. Here is her answer to one of them.
RESPONSE:
Dear T,
Even though yours was a "quickie letter" your point was well made. It is true, "Israel was in a special covenant relationship with God", and "then when Jesus came, He replaced the old covenant... with one based on love"; these facts, however, do not weaken my argument.
The 9/11 Attack on America can still be viewed as a "parallel example" of God punishing Israel.
I'm sure that you'll agree that the Bible is the Word of God, revealing HIs divine plan of salvation for lost humanity as well as His holy character. And the truth of the matter is" God's character has not changed.. Describing the character of God, Malachi wrote,
"I am the Lord, I change not" (Malachi 3:6);
Paul wrote,
"Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8);
and James wrote,
"...with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (James 1:17).
The Lord speaking of Himself said:
...I am the lord which exercise loving kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.
Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised; Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
(Jeremiah 9:24-26)
So both covenant and non covenant people/nations will feel God's blessings if they obey and God's curses if the don't.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord... (Psalms 33:12)
The wicked shall be turned into Hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Psalms 9:17)
Without controversy, America is a wicked nation which has flagrantly disobeyed God.. Her list of sins, which extends from sea to bloody sea, is topped by her wanton slaughter of the poor innocents (abortion).
According to the Bible such a nation will not escape God's judgment. and just as God used nations to punish other nations (not only Israel -- read Obadiah, Nahum) so did God use the hijackers to punish America.
I have been called a "hate monger" for making such a statement. Well, they'll have to call Thomas Jefferson a "hate monger" who said, "Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever".
Abraham Lincoln would also be on that list who, during his Second Inaugural Address, alluded that the Civil War had lasted so long and taken such a heavy toll on human life because of America's grievous injustices against the black man (James 5:4; Deuteronomy. 24:14).
Furthermore, it is recorded in
Deuteronomy 28:49-52:
The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from afar,... a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand...of fierce countenance...he shall besiege thee in all they gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down...
Modern day "God bless" America considers such a God as repulsive and cruel; whereas Ancient God fearing Israel understood that God "is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all HIs ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he" (DT. 32:4).
"One sinner destroyeth much good" was a lesson they'd learned when one man's (Achan), sin caused the army of Israel to "turneth their backs before their enemies" (Joshua 7).
Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity. (Joshua 22:20)
"But remember, Brenda, we're living in the Age of Grace".
Nevertheless, there is still judgment.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (Galatians 6:7)
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. (Romans 1:18)
Jesus, who was "full of grace" (John 1:14) had more than a few words to say regarding judgment.
These are some of them:
...sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon thee. (John 5:14)
And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in sodom, it would haveremained until this day. (Matthew 11:23)
Woe unto the world because of offenses: for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh! (Matthew 18:7)
And that servant, which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. (Luke 12:47)
Like Israel of old, America knows better. America may not be a "covenant" people, all the same, Americans have been exposed to the Bible, probably more than any other people on planet earth. Her increasing disdain towards righteousness and growing esteem for wickedness will only invite more judgments, (unemployment, natural disasters, diseases, acts of terrorism, etc.)
In the face of 9/11 the Lord God ever loves the American people and has been merciful unto us. (It is only because of God's mercy that America has not been blown to smithereens.)
It is written:
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. (Hebrew 12:6,7,11)
The great God of the universe continuously stretches forth His hand of mercy to Americans, to Afghans, to Asians, to all the people of the world in the person of Jesus Christ.
The Lord... is longsuffering to us-ward not willing that any should perish, but all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:10
If only they would repent, if only they would turn to Jesus,
If only......
